Updates for AVG Free Steve Hehr 02-02-2006

For the last few weeks, all of the updates for AVG Free have been
roughly 2 mb in size, and always require a reboot. Previously the
updates were, for the most part, much smaller, usually on the order of
10 to 100 kb, and rarely required a reboot to take effect.

Has this been the experience of others, and if so, any idea why the
change? I'm still on dialup so 2 mb is a relative inconvenience,
though certainly not a big deal (especially as the program is free).

They have not been that large here.

I've only had one update (on the free version) that required a reboot in
the last two weeks or so.

I think you may have a bad setting.

AVG Control Center > Update Manager > Properties

Make sure "Update Immediately" is checked.

You're right about that... it wasn't checked. That must somehow have
gotten changed, as it *used* to update immediately. Anyway, that
seems to have gotten rid of the "reboot" problem. Thanks much.

Update is still around 2 mb though... I'll post again if anything
changes.
