| Hi Dave,
|
| Thanks for your support,
| I have done it,
| But i wonder why the companies like Trend and McCafee let us use their
| definitions using a software like AV for free?

The Multi AV Scanning Tool is not a full implementation of anti virus. It only
allows "On
Demand" scanning while a fully installed pacjkage provide "One Demand" and "On
Access"
scanning. It is "On Access" scanning toat provides protection against viruses.

Fikes are scanned whenever attempts are made to run, open, copy or
move them (though not necessarily all those).... in other words
_access_ them. The same thing as "realtime monitor".

This is in contrast to "on-demand" scanning whereby the use chooses
to scan certain files, folders, or drives.

Normally a swap file should be about 2x memory, and no more.

Yes, this could be part of the problem.

Have you checked event viewer for any errors? Have you ruled out a
potential problem with a hard disk going south and having bad blocks?

Is it OK? Um... that'd be a double no. Best performance is obtained
with most things other than Norton, a) and b) software piracy is
illegal, and isn't something anyone here should be condoning or
encouraging. Especially when there are free antivirus programs out
there that are better and less of a drag on the system.

You're welcome.

Quite definitely. I think that David Lipman and Todd H. answered that
question.

Pirated software is a definite no-no. Aside from the morality of theft,
the guys/gals who write the software like to get paid so that they can pay
their bills. Personally I think that most recent Norton software doesn't
work very well but that's your choice to make.
