Strange entry in Services - what is this? louise 02-09-2008

If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
Win XP Pro, SP2 with critical updates
Office 2003
AV - NOD32 v3
SuperAntiSpyware
Online Armor

While adjusting a setting in Administrative Tools/Services,
I noticed this as the first entry. It is running and
startup is automatic

Name:
##ld_String1.6844F930_1628_4223_B5CC_5BB94B879762##

Description:
##ld_String2.6844F930_1628_4223_B5CC_5BB94B879762##

Logon as: Local System

I ran Process Explorer and it showed no process with
anything like this. I googled and got nothing either.

Any ideas as to what this might be? Is it dangerous? What
in the world is it doing?

TIA

Louise

It's for the mDNSResponder - part of the Bonjour software that gets
installed with Adobe Photoshop. Supposedly it helps users configure some
kind of network sharing in a work environment.

GREAT - that's harmless enough - thanks a lot.

BTW, since I'm not working in a network sharing environment,
can I disable it, thereby conserving resources?

Thanks.

I don't know. If you disable it and Photoshop doesn't work, you can
always reinstall it.

I'm sticking with an old version of Paintshop Pro. :)
