Following the recent thread on SmitFraud, I d/l smitfraudremove.exe. Did
not unzip/install it.

Counterspy reported it as a Trojan dropper, so I removed it. If C/S gave
a false positive, I'd like to know.

TIA

I have a copy of smitfraudfix and I've had the same problem where one of my
AV's sees it as malware, but it's a false positive in my case. I haven't
heard of smitfraudremove.exe specifically though, so check it out. Maybe
you can submit it to Counterspy for examination?

Ah, my bad, it was smitfraudfix - didn't write down the name before
deleting it, and my memory played false. Sorry.

Thanks for the info.

Smitfraudfix is the best single purpose program for getting rid of the
smitfraud virus and their variants. I have found multiple av pick it up as a
trojan however.

IOW, keep the *.zip around, and use if necessary.

Thanks, all.
