Ouch. The joyful irony of this from a business who protects its customers
from fraud isn't lost I'm sure :-)

Being a rather suspicious individual, I explored this post a little further,
did a google search using 'mcafee false sec filing'
Came up with this link:
http://www.sec.gov/litigation/complaints/comp18189.htm
that refers to Network Associates, wasn't sure if this was same as post, so
went here:
http://www.sec.gov/litigation/complaints/comp18189.htm

Interesting,

The charges are being brought against Terry W. Davis who was a
"financial officer" at Network Associates until he was fired in 2002. By
implication, others at Network Associates were also involved in the
violations.

Note, Network Associates is incorporated in the state of Delaware which
is extremely business friendly, i.e. minimal regulations.

I thought I'd comment on the corporate law in Delaware. Delaware
is in no way lax on corporations. Corporations incorporate in that
state for one reason only. The corporate law in Delaware is certain.
Delaware is highly respected for its corporate governance law. Judges
know corporate law forwards and backwards, unlike in many other
states. Certainty pays when one is dealing with $ Billions.

I live in a state where we had no real corporation law until the 1950's
when they found some guy selling unregistered stock in a company that
proposed to manufacture flying saucers. Needless to say my state is not
so respected in this field.

The case being settled is Federal. This has been coming for long time
now. Nobody paying any attention would be surprised this company got
caught. How stupid were the stockholders of Network Associates?
