You must not know many hillbillies, most of us shave or as we say burr
our hair a few times a year. I wonder if that is why at going on 53 I still
have a full head of hair (well until burr it that is, lol) and no bald
spots?

Why not be a cheapskate and use KASFX? Haven't you graduated yet
to just on-demand scanning along with safe hex? If that doesn't suit
you, find a version of KAV or one of the products that use the
Kaspersky scan engine that suits your fancy.

Yes, I use safe hex and just use my AV to manually scan downloads, but KASFX
did look a tad complicated. I will have another look at it, Arthur. (G)

Arthur, eh? Does that mean I can't call you Figgs? :)

Since KASFX (and escan) is supposed to be the height of simplicity
because of its use by average users in a panic ... I'd sure like to
hear what it is you think is complicated. Its disadvantage (sort of)
for routine scanning is that it only offers Scan/Clean. It doesn't
delete, though. It renames. So that disadvantage isn't particularly
significant. I've never seen KAV false alarm on good files.

Anyone wanting to use it routinely can drag icons out to the desktop
for mwavscan.com (Escan) and KAV-UP.BAT (the updater).
