My computer seems to be infected with a virus which prevents me from
opening any of the folders in my computer. If I click on "My
Documents" for instance I get a message saying" This operation has
been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on your computer. Please
contact your system administrator". I can open documents saved on the
desktop. Also if I open Microsoft Word or Powerpoint and click on
"File", I can open the last few files I worked on even if they are not
on the desktop.
Does anyone know how to deal with this?

If it were me, I would run Malwarebytes and SuperantiSpyware first.
