Hi all.

I'm troubled by Norton Internet Security's tedious:

End program > ccApp.exe > Not responding

sequence, so I've turned off NIS' firewall and turned on XP Professional's
firewall.

I'm continuing to run AVG.

Am I protected any less than when NIS' firewall was on?

Regards.

You may be just as equally protected 'firewall-wise' but NIS has the
advantage of also providing intrusion detection/prevention which the
XP's firewall doesn't.

Also, are you just using AVG for your AV? If so, you've probably
turned off the NAV product which comes with NIS - but if so, why is the
the Norton product on your system if both NAV and NIS are turned off?

I'm mentioning this because ccApp.exe is used by both NAV and NIS so
even if you have NIS disabled, NAV will still use it (provided that you
didnt turn it off, obviously)

Good thinking, Batman!

Trying to rid myself of aaApp.exe issues is a long and winding road; I'll
leave NAV on for a while, so I can see if disabling the NIS firewall had
improved things. If it hasn't I'll take another step (turn off NAV).

Which means, of course, that I'm running both NAV and AVG at the same time
which is no doubt a cardinal sin; but it seemed to work fine - at least
while everything was working fine!

I'll get there!

Regards.
