At some point in the past, there was a free news feed from, I want to say,
the University of Hamburg in Germany. I dont know if thats still around,
but it was great. Anyway, give this a look and see if anything can help.

If you get a free one, you can send me the $10 a month. :-)

i think i know the one you're talking about... it changed it's name a
couple years ago to individual.net and now is a fee-based service...

that's right. I used/use news.individual.net since years. The free
changed to fee (10 Euro/year NOT month) about 1 year ago. So far IMO the
fee is cheap enough for a good newsserver. And news.individual.net was/
is one, IMHO. Perhaps Heather decide this way?

I also used it for many years till it went to a pay one. It was a devil to
figure out how to pay for it from Canada.

However, my only beef with it is that you cannot munge your From Address.
If they changed that rule, I would use them in a heartbeat!!

But so far, I am still up and running with Rogers, but for how long I do not
know.

I only need text.....not binaries. So I may just go for this one.

Thanks....Heather
