If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
Today I got the following error while updating (manually):

"LU1856: LiveUpdate was unable to access the file it downloaded."

Never had this trouble before. Any ideas?

If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options

I had the same problem (LU1806 & LU1856) this morning with NIS2003.
Bizarrely, I found that if I turned off Ad-Blocking in NIS then the virus
definitions would update successfully.

I'm afraid I had that already turned off...

That's a shame. I just passed this suggestion on to someone else on another
newsgroup and it worked for them too. Perhaps you could try looking here:

Thanks for the link. Amongst all the items the only thing I could think of
was rebooting. So I did that a minute ago and this time I could update
sucessfully.
Can't imagine what went wrong in the first place, because earlier this
afternoon I did just the same immediately after booting up the system, so I
think they might have changed something on their side...
