I just updated my KAV application module(s). Pretty painless.

Here is the Kaspersky Labs comment on the CAB-vulnerability issue:

When I go to this site, I see different patches for AV personal and AV
personal pro. The personal "pro" version does not appear in the
section where one buys a product. What is the difference? Is the
"pro" version actually available?

Bob,

It is my understanding that beginning with KAV 5.0.372, there is no
difference between KAV Personal and KAV Personal Pro. Here is how the
CAB-vulnerability patch shakes out (on Windows OS):

(ftp://ftp.avp.ru/updates50/AutoPatches/windows/)

Since I wasn't paying attention, I had KAV 5.0.383, and the auto-updater
updated my KAV to 5.0.384. I believe that KAV 5.0.388 was released in
early September, and at one time, I could have updated to KAV 5.0.388,
without re-installing my KIS 1.1.53. Then the patch would have updated
me to the latest/greatest version, 5.0.390.

In the next day or two I will install KAV 5.0.388 through the KIS
installer, and then let the auto-updater install the 5.0.388 to 5.0.390
patch. BTW, I believe that this is the first time that the auto-updater
in the KAV GUI has been used to update the application modules. In the
past, all updates/upgrades had to be done manually.

There have been quite a few posts about this issue in the Kaspersky Labs
Forums the last few days.

I had a lot of problems with that update on my Win98SE system,
but I won't bother detailing them, because Kapersky released
another small patch yesterday, and everything seems fine now.

There was some repoted false positive detections on Win9x boxes. This
was fixed quickly though.
