If you were Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
I've just removed free Grisoft AVG from my Windows Me system. I felt
that I was experiencing performance penalties, partially due to the deep
and complex integration. I just installed ClamWin, and I'd like to use
this with a second or third AV program -- of course, never all at the
same time. I can use F-Prot from DOS, too.
For email, I'm using Thunderbird.
The documentation for ClamWin is confusing to me. I want to be able to
scan email messages, and especially, to be able to scan attachments. I
can't find any way to do this with ClamWin. The right-click menu doesn't
offer any ClamWin functions when I'm in Thunderbird. I'd appreciate
ideas and suggestions.

There's no need to scan email. And forget about Clamwin. There are far
better choices for on-demand scanning. Check out the free version of
Bit Defender. Also, Trend Micto's Sysclean is free and good. If you
want something top notch that isn't free, use version 3.5 of KAV
from here:

You could use the Clam engine for a second scan,.. but I would use
something else (free) as a first scanner.
Use Clam to download it's lates definition,... and simply use it when
and if you have doubt about the result of your first scanner,... and
get a cup of coffee while Clam digs into your system.

Cup of coffee?
How about three successive Roman orgies complete with a few trips to the
vomitorium?
I ran ClamWin yesterday -- it took a paltry _nine hours_ to scan 13gb of
files. My hard drive action was going slowly. Well, hopefully the thing
was thorough.

No it is not thorough, it only scans for the stuff it knows,... in
various tests it's about 60% of known virusses, though I suppose that
it does not recognize 10y old manaces. So.. no sweat, if you use it
only as secondary scanner. Yes it takes forever, if and when I run
it,.. i start it when I go to sleep and check the next morning. Yes I
sleep long ;) But do not forget that it is version 0.86.1
So let's give those open source guys a break and be verrrrrrrrrrrrrry
patient. (A roman orgie would be a nice idea,.. but what for the
remaining 8 1/2 hours?)
