If you are happy to pay to get the best, go for Kaspersky Anti Virus
(KAV) or Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS). Apart from being one of the
top two solutions (probably THE top and with their innovative new 2009
version coming along it will definitely be top),it has a fantastic forum
where experienced and helpful users (and Kaspersky staff) give fast
answers to any problem you may present to them (really fast - minutes,
usually!!!).
I have no connection with Kaspersky Lab but have been a satisfied user
of KIS for two years now having previously used AVG, AVAST, Norton,
McAfee, and others. During that time I have asked many questions in the
Kaspersky forum and have always got helpful responses very quickly.
Hope this helps

NOD32 and Kaspersky are the best, but NOD32 is a little better?

I use NOD32.

And I use Avira Antivir (freeware) as a "second opinion" av-scanner.

I started in 1998 with Norton, which was pants, so I scrapped it and threw
away the disk, losing £35 in the process.
I looked around for a bit and then picked NOD32 in 1999 and I've never
looked back. It's small and doesn't clag up your system, and it has a good
hit rate for viruses. Costs not a lot for a year.
My partner has AVG and is happy with it, but I believe that you get what you
pay for, so I'm happy paying.
