Hello folks.
Just got message that as of Jan. /07 AVG Free won't exist,
but will now cost $$.
Can you recomend an equally effective free anti-virus program,
with regular free updates.
Thanks. Please reply to NG.

Replace it with AVG v7.5 which will replace it or better yet...

What is it with all these questions about "AVG no longer free" ?
It was a simple task to find this page:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5
They are upgrading the version, but it is still free.

I can recommend a much better product:
http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivirus/freeav/index.adp?
AVS is based on Kaspersky version 6. It excludes KAV's web
protection and proactive defense modules, and includes
file and email scanning. Realtime protection is enabled by
default. You can opt for either automatic or manual
updates. Just don't opt for the Toolbar during installation.

If you were Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options Hi,
Go for either of the following.
Antivir Personal Edition Classic - http://www.free-av.com Avast Home edition - http://www.avast.com.
Comodo antivirus is there, but I had lots of bitter experiences with it
and hence I won't recommend this to anyone. Also, I heard its detection
rate is also not good.
Thanks,
Balaji.
