Hi,

I have been tasked with finding an antivirus software product for a
windows XP Pro PC which is acting as a server in an industrial
automation system.

This server doesn't have an internet connection, but the customer
wants it to be regularly updated with the latest antivirus
definitions.

So, does any antivirus product (Norton, AVG, McAfee, etc) provide such
a facility?

Ideally, the solution will be:
1) Finding a way to download an update from a PC which 'is' connected
to the internet.
2) Then copy the update file to the server using USB memory stick, and
putting the update file in a specific directory on the server.
3) The servers antivirus program picks up the update definition file
and does the upgrade.

So, can this be done?

Any advice appreciated.

McAfee produces EXE files that will update the signature and/or the Signatures
and engine.
The file is called a SuperDAT.

I suppose you didn't look yourself, because most antivirus
producers provide a downloadable off-line update.

AntiVir

McAfee

Norton (yeck)

AVG

Avast

and maybe you can look here to find more:

Not much to add to that!
Except, maybe:
Fopr Sophos, you can dl the latest IDE set from their site and just unzip it to
the Sophos
installation folder. Then you should stop and restart the on-access scanner, so
it recognises
the new IDEs.

Does it have a connection the the local LAN, though?
We have some mahcines here that can see our LAN but not the internet, so they
get
updates from a local machine that _can_ see the internet. This is using McAfee,
I have a
win2003 server set up as a McAfee Update Repository.
