I've got two computers here that I'm trying to clean up. When I load the
latest Adaware SE on them, I'm prompted that the definitions are 588 days
old. But the definitions are up to date. And I can't get through a
complete scan. I thought the problem was virus-related, but AVG doesn't
turn up any.

please advise.

I just downloaded the 12/04/2006 definitions and ran a smart scan with no
problems. Possibly you could do a smart scan first and see what it finds.

Maybe you could try Spybot Search & Destroy
<http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html> also.

that is the strange part. it is the latest version. and the clocks and
date on both computers are correct. i've been doing this kind of thing for
6 years, and this is one of the strangest things i've seen.

Odd then. I figured I might as well get the obvious out of the way
first. But I have no answers at all.

Did you try their Forum??
