I just removed AVG. I downloaded it to get rid of 'Antivirus 2008'. It
didn't detect it, but it sure did a number on my machine. It slowed
everything down, particularly the startup. AVG was actually worse than
the virus itself.

I did download another program that did get rid of the nasty. I guess
I'm overdue to have my machine ‘tuned up' by my professionals, but in
the meantime, I'm sure glad to get rid of AVG.

What program did you download and install. I have AVG and am new to
it, but am not quite happy.

I used 'Malwarebytes Anti-Malware' I found this on the home page of
Hal-pc (www.hal-pc.org).

Several years ago I used AVG to good advantage. The latest version
seemes to be a real resource hog, with popup nag screens to boot!

That's odd, I install and use AVG free for hundreds of customers,(and
encourage them to buy the full ver.)
and NEVER have I gotten one complaint, not one, but of course I am removing
Norton or McAfee internet security suites and compared to that the
PC's run much faster AND AVG usually finds a few virus files too....
I personally don't run an antivirus software, but on occasion will load and
run AVG then uninstall it the next day or so
Again never have I gotten a complaint...

What was your biggest problem with AVG??? other than detection, which I have
found to be very good...
Thanks

The one thing missing since I uninstalled Norton Internet Security and
installed AVG Free is incoming email scanning. It's set to scan
incoming emails and will scan those coming in to Outlook. But I don't
use Outlook for email, I use a program called Forte Agent which
provide very good email as well as Newsgroup Reader.

I cannot seem to get AVG to scan emails coming into Agent.
