Does anyone know if there is a way to redirect the placement of the
Data Folder in AVG (currently located at
C:\Docs&Settings\AllUsers\ApplicationData\Grisoft\AVG7Data) to a
different partition? I'm trying to keep my C: drive from being
completely cluttered and I'm beginning to run out of space. AVG's data
folder is currently taking up 1GB. I've installed the actual program
on F: drive, but all these data files end up on C:. 1GB worth seems
like an awful lot.

Thanks,
Mark

You can go to that folder and find a subfolder named "upd7bin".
It holds your auto-downloaded definition updates. They end in a
.bin extension

Safe to delete them, but leave the very latest one if you need
a restart to update AVG. I delete them every few months to free up room.
If you have every update since installing AVG you could save tons of
space.

thanks I actually found my solution on an AVG forum. I had to
completely uninstall the program. I had 200 MB on my C: drive before
uninstalling. After uninstalling, I had over 1 GB free. I obviously
had some sort of bug in it.

Meanwhile, you can move the App. Data folder using Xteq Dotec X-Setup Pro
6.6 (last freeware version). The setting is at System | File System |
Folders | Data | General Folders #1 | Program Data. While there are likely
some progs in which the location is not obtained from the registry, in most
it is and the tweak appears to work well either way. Having moved App. Data
to different drives, I have seen AVG create in-use files there.
