If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
AVG used to update daily and automatically install the update without a
reboot most of the time.

Lately every day after updating it demands to be rebooted.

Is everyone experiencing this or has something gone horribly wrong?

I just began using AVG last week. A couple days ago it needed
rebooting, that's all. Today it updated fine - it was the only time I
was using it when it updated. My wife said it needed rebooting when it
happend a few days ago. So far I like it, but it uses quite a bit of
resources. I turned off the email monitor, since I use web mail.

Control Center > Update Manger > Properties > Properties Tab

No check: Update upon next computer restart. (Updated files will be
prepared and update finished after computer restart).

Check: Update immediately

        If computer restart is required:

Check: Require confirmation from the user
NO CHECK: Restart immediately
No check: Complete at next computer restart

Check: Do not ask for the update source
Check: Display information about update process
Check: Require confirmation to close running applications. AVG may require
the closing of some running applications (for example MS Outlook)

===========
AVG was updating the daily updates but not version updates ... I saw
there was a later version so I downloaded and installed it and hopefully
it will work like it did before now. I suspect something had become
corrupted. I have made the settings you recommended. Time will tell.
