Using the Programme AntiVir(XP) to scan a pc which has (amongst others..)
the Mozilla mail client as default, the following warning is produced:

".. C:\DOKUMENTE UND EINSTELLUNGEN\<user name
deleted>\ANWENDUNGSDATEN\MOZILLA\PROFILES\DEFAULT\X2DKYO41.SLT\MAIL\SMTP.1UND1.DE\INBOX

>>English translation:

"..Contains Signatur of PHISH/SunBkfraud.G-Virus.

This file is an E-mail Directory that may not be deleted or altered. .."

How should one rid the pc of this virus?

Is there another <free-?> anti-virus programme that could be used to
succesfully delete it?

If really necessary my friend is willing to accept the loss of his Email
data on a one-time basis.

antivir has detected something (something having to do with phishing) in
your mozilla mail inbox...

removal from mail database files is something that some anti-virus'
still have problems with - especially mail databases of alternative (ie.
non-microsoft) email software... try deleting the actual email message
that it's alerting on and then emptying your trash (in mozilla) and then
compacting your mail folders...

i don't think that should be necessary... deleting the offending email
should be fine... the email (supposedly this has to do with phishing, i
can't find any details though) will probably be telling you something
like you need to change your account information at your bank or paypal
or ebay or something like that...

Thanks to the various people who have responded. I will see how my friend
(who has no idea about using the _news_ system..) gets on with the advice.

F'up nach dcsv gebogen.
