I have just built a new PC and I'm running XP64 on it. I used F-Secure on
XP32 but it won't work on XP 64.

Any suggestions for an A/V app that will work on XP64? I considered
Kaspersky but somebody said it was a resource hog (I have a feeling that's
the engine inside F-Secure).

"We are glad to announce that all avast! antivirus editions, including the
free Home Edition, now fully support the new Windows x64 platform."

"Avira AntiVir Personal - FREE Antivirus (Windows 2000 / XP / Vista 32 Bit
and 64 Bit)."

I almost forgot, in addition to a 'real-time' AV application you may wish
adding a couple of outstanding 'on-demand' scanners (you'll be glad you
did), they are *freely* available!

David H. Lipman's MULTI_AV Tool

and/or

BitDefender10 Free Edition

Good luck :)

Well, AVG and Avast both will.
Free versions and paid ones.

Symantec Antivirus (the corporate one, not the bloated end-user one) has
versions for x64 for both XP and Vista.
